David Lee Roth has issued a statement addressing the cancellation of his winter Las Vegas residency, which he had previously billed as his final live concerts ever.

The Van Halen frontman was supposed to return to the stage for the first time in nearly two years on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day. Both shows were cancelled late-last week, and subsequently the plug was pulled on the entire House of Blues residency.

"Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. We got rained out... COVID cancelled," Roth told Entertainment Weekly.

He then addressed fans' hopes for some rescheduled dates.

"Future shows? When the benefit concerts for Colorado, Farm Aid, and hospital workers 'everywhere' come up, call me..."

In another statement issues to Fox News, Roth added: "It's not about me anymore."

Roth announced the residency early last fall, telling the Las Vegas Review-Journal that he was "throwing in the shows" after the run of shows early this year. In early-December, Roth added four more shows to his Vegas itinerary, but the optimism only lasted a few weeks.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer has alluded to various health issues in recent years, including a spinal fusion procedure in the spring of 2020. In the summer of that year, Roth lamented the U.S.'s slow, divided response to the COVID pandemic. He suggested that the virus might have robbed him of his last good years as a performer.
