Eric Burdon Enjoys Irony Of Trump Campaign Using 'House Of The Rising Sun'

While former Animals frontman Eric Burdon is one of many classic rockers who opposes the use of his music by President Donald Trump's campaign, he's not among those complaining about it.

Questions about the campaign's unauthorized use of music by artists who revile the president have abounded since he first ran for office in 2016. Many artists have sent the campaign cease and desist notices, while some have even contemplated lawsuits.

Burdon confirmed that the Trump campaign never asked for his permission to use "House of the Rising Sun" to entertain people between speakers at rallies, but he added that he's fine with them using the song.

"A tale of sin and misery set in a brothel suits [Trump] so perfectly!" Burdon noted, referencing allegations of sexual misconduct and extra-marital affairs that have dogged the president. "Far more appropriate for this time in our history might be 'We Gotta Get Out of This Place.'"

The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer made the statement beneath a photo of himself wearing a mask emblazoned with the word "Vote." He concluded the post with the hashtags #vote, #saveourdemocracy and #bidenharris2020.
