Before marrying his widow Talinda in 2006, Chester Bennington was married to a woman named Samantha Olit from 1996 to 2005. Just months after the Linkin Park singer took his own life in 2017, Samantha filed a claim with his estate demanding a cut of his royalties. On Thursday (December 19), TMZ reported that her claim was granted and Chester's ex-wife would receive 50% of his Linkin Park royalties, which include non-touring merch, publishing rights and a share of the master sound records.

The couple also had one son together, Draven Sebastian, and Samantha initially included child support Chester allegedly owed her between 2012 and 2017 — approximately $502,500 plus interest — in her claim; however, that portion was reportedly withdrawn in June.

In September, Talinda announced that she was engaged just over two years after Chester's death.

“Dear #Family, I am overjoyed to announce my engagement to my angel on earth, Michael F.,” she wrote on Instagram. “I am here to tell you that you can find love after tragedy. That a death of a soulmate does not mean the death of you. My family, friends, and my Linkin Park brothers welcome him to the family with open arms. I will continue to honor Chester and continue my life’s mission to make his passing not in vein.”

She ended the post with a note of encouragement to others who have lost a loved one to suicide. “To all Suicide Loss Survivors, you CAN be happy again. You CAN have space in your heart for grief, joy, happiness, sadness, and love,” she wrote. “Thank you for ALL of your continued love and support.”
