KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A mother has been arrested, accused of causing a brain injury to a 3-year-old child whom she is a guardian over.
Veronica Jacquelyn Sorgman, 28, of Charleston, was arrested late Tuesday afternoon for child abuse resulting in or creating the risk of injury.
"Hopefully the prosecution of this woman will make the little girl safer," Charleston Police Lt. Steve Cooper said.
According to the criminal complaint, Sorgman lives with the child's father. Investigators say that she watches the 3-year old, along with two of her children daily, making her a guardian.
