HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A summer crime wave is heating up in the Westmoreland area of Huntington, leaving residents frustrated and ready to fight back.
There have been break-ins nearly every night for the past week in Huntington's Westmoreland community, which is located in Wayne County.
Even the site of a sheriff's cruiser parked in front of a house didn't deter thieves.
"I came out and found my lock cut off the building," Wayne County Sheriff's Deputy Mark Langdon said. "They left my weed eater and lawnmower but took pretty much anything they could put in a bookbag."
