Julian Casablancas is finally spilling the beans about his new solo album.  The Strokes frontman says his first studio effort with his new backing band The Voidz will be released on September 23rd.

The record is called Tyranny, which Casablancas explains has come in many forms throughout history.  Today, he argues that "corporations have become the new ruling body."  He accuses them of being focused solely on profit while "ignoring and repressing the truth about whatever suffering it may cause."

Tyranny follows Casablancas' 2009 solo debut Phrazes for the Young. Fans can pre-order his sophomore effort now through Casablancas' label Cult Records at

Casablancas and the Voidz are scheduled to kick off a supporting tour behind Tyranny on October 16th in Philadelphia.  They also have a pair of gigs in Mexico and an appearance at Los Angeles' FYF Fest scheduled for August.
